Six policemen were injured in an attack on Bijoynagar, Brahmanbaria, when they went to arrest controversial speaker Gias Uddin Taheri. Three vehicles were vandalized during the attack. The incident took place in Nazirabari area of ​​Char Islampur union of the upazila on Saturday night. Taheri escaped through a back door.

The injured policemen are Sub-Inspector (SI) Faruk, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Pradeep Das, Constable Yunus Mia, Nizam Uddin, Mohsin Kabir and Md. Shawkat. The injured have been treated at the Upazila Health Complex.

Later, the police conducted a drive and arrested six people. The arrested speakers are Omar Ali, Shahanur, Mosharraf Mia, Hakim Mia, Selim and Mizan Mia. Their homes are in Nazirabari area of ​​the upazila.

When asked about the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bijoynagar Police Station, Rawshan Ali, told Ajker Patrika that a case has been registered against Gias Uddin Taheri for attacking the police in Akhaura. When the police went to the gathering after receiving the information, Taheri entered a house and closed the main gate to avoid arrest. Later, he escaped by crossing the water of the beel flowing behind the house. At that time, his fans vandalized three vehicles used by the police. In addition, six policemen were injured in the attack. Six people have been arrested in a drive in this incident. Legal action is being taken in this regard.

Earlier, last Friday, a gathering of Gias Uddin Taheri was organized in Akhaura without permission. When the police went there and asked them to end the gathering quickly, they attacked and beheaded an SI. At that time, there were allegations of provocative statements against the police from the gathering. The police filed a case in this incident, naming 15 people including Taheri.
